Gulet & Yacht Sailing Charters in Turkey | ArticleGoes - Free ...

Turkey is a country in where you can embark on a gulet charter, yacht charter and sailboat charter; and the reasons why are quite obvious. Turkey is geographically wealthy and practically surrounded by water. If it wasn?t for the Eastern borders, Turkey would have might as well been an island?thus, all the right reasons for an amazing gulet, yacht, sailing charter holiday at sea.

The most popular yacht sailing charters are the Mediterranean and Aegean where the waters are warm from June to October; more so in the Mediterranean and southeastern Aegean seas.

Turkey gulet charters alternatively referred to as Blue cruise holidays, is different from the Turkey yacht charters many are familiar with, as are Turkey sailing charters. It?s not just the vessel that makes them all distinctive; it?s the whole Blue voyage experience. The yacht charter itineraries may be similar but each is quite unique from one another in holiday style.

Gulet cruises are traditional. The vessels are exclusive in design and overall accommodation. Generally the gulets are rented weekly and offer 6 types of cabins types, namely, master cabins, triple cabins, double cabins, twin cabins and single cabins and children cabins. Not all cabin types are present on every gulet. Some gulets only offer master and double. Others master, double and twin. The guest occupancy varies along with the cabins. There are private luxury gulet cruises, but also gulet cabin charters. The difference is that private gulet charters are exclusive to the whole of the group that rents the gulet and the itinerary is dependant on where the guests wish to go. Whereas gulet cabin charters are rented on a per cabin basis and the gulet is occupied by a variety of guests from different parts of the globe. The itineraries in cabin charters are preset. There is no choice in where the guests wish to go. This type of gulet rental is more affordable. Gulets are also referred to as motorsailers because they offer both engines and alternatively sails to operate.

Yacht charters in Turkey refer to both gulets (Turkish yachts) and motor yachts. For the sake of this article we will refer to yacht charters for motor yacht rentals. Unlike gulets, motor yachts are known worldwide and not really exclusive to a certain region. They too can be rented privately as well as shared.

Sailing in Turkey has been around for decades if not centuries. When mentioned, sailing is primarily for bareboat charters, such as catamarans and monohulls. However one can also think about gulets for a sailing holiday in Turkey as they too offer sailing when the winds are right. Bareboats are skippered, but with the right credentials, can be rented without a skipper too.

Quick Iran curbs may obviate need for strike call: Israel (Reuters)

MUNICH (Reuters) ? Iran "will blink" if sanctions aimed at deterring it from building a nuclear bomb are imposed rapidly, meaning outside powers may never need to decide on possible armed action, an Israeli minister said on Friday.

Speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of a conference in Germany, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon added that the key point of international concern should be the amount of enriched uranium Iran has managed to bury at a deep site at Fordow, its best sheltered nuclear site south of Tehran.

Ayalon was responding to a U.S. newspaper report that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta believed Israel was likely to bomb Iran within months to stop it building a nuclear bomb.

He added: "I don't want to get into specifics because I don't think we may necessarily reach that fork in the road of taking such a decision by all of us in the international community, if indeed sanctions will be imposed now, and the Iranians will stop completely their illegal activities now, then we may not even need to discuss such issues."

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that Panetta was concerned about the increased likelihood Israel would launch an attack over the next few months. CNN said it confirmed the report, citing a senior Obama administration official, who declined to be identified.

Israel, widely believed to possess the Middle East's only nuclear arsenal, views Iran's uranium enrichment projects as a major threat and has not ruled out the use of military force to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran says its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.

Washington and the European Union imposed tighter sanctions on Iran in recent weeks in a drive to force Tehran to provide more information on its nuclear program.

CRUNCH TIME

Iran has said repeatedly it could close the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping lane if sanctions succeed in preventing it from exporting crude, a move Washington said it would not tolerate.

Israel's military intelligence chief said on Thursday he estimated that Iran could make four atomic bombs by further enriching uranium it had already stockpiled, and could produce its first bomb within a year of deciding to build one.

In Munich, Ayalon said Israel and the United States "absolutely" agreed not only on the goal of stopping Iran getting the bomb but also on how to reach that goal.

He said there had been "very, very positive steps" in toughening curbs on Iran including EU sanctions, although some of these might only take affect gradually over some months.

"It is not enough yet in the sense that the lead time is a little bit too much, I believe the crunch should be now. It is a matter of weeks and months that can make a difference," he said.

"We know that Iran is actually accelerating its nuclear activities maybe to pre-empt sanctions, so this is why now is the time to do it, so the Iranians will blink. The Iranian regime, as fanatic, as radical, as dangerous as it is, it's not irrational when it comes to its own political survival."

"Now the dilemma will all be theirs. They will have the dilemma to stop or bear the consequences."

Asked if Israel's key concern was the amount of enriched uranium Iran was transferring to a site at Fordow from less well sheltered installations, he replied: "Absolutely."

Nuclear facilities at Fordow, about 160 km (100 miles) south of Tehran near the Iranian holy city of Qom, are believed by some experts to be about 80 meters (260 feet) underground.

Experts say this is probably at or beyond the maximum depth that even very big conventional bombs can reach. Some say the United States is the only country with any chance of damaging the Fordow chamber using just conventional air power.

The vulnerability to air attack of the chamber at Fordow, beneath a former missile base controlled by the elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, came into sharper focus on January 9 when the United Nations nuclear watchdog confirmed that Iran had started enriching uranium at the site.

The same day a State Department spokeswoman declared that if Iran was enriching uranium to 20 percent at Fordow this would be a "further escalation" of its pattern of violating its obligations under U.N. Security Council resolutions.

Ayalon said Israel saw "continued enrichment not just to 3.5 percent but also at 20 percent, which is clearly not for civil use but for military use."

"We see them also trying to expedite hardening their installations so they will reach an immunity zone, where some action may not be as effective, and this is why the time is so much of the essence."

Iran's move to make uranium refined to a fissile purity of 20 percent -- compared with 3.5 percent normally used to fuel power plants -- has raised concern in Israel and the West as this moved it closer to weapons-grade material of 90 percent.

94% Pina

All Critics (70) | Top Critics (20) | Fresh (65) | Rotten (5) | DVD (1)

Pina is a tribute of an artist by an artist, a friend to a friend. But its great genius comes from the mournful, as well as celebratory, reckoning of the performers Bausch pushed, collaborated with and inspired.

What might seem like a convenient bid for publicity - the first 3-D art-house film! - turns out to be the only logical way to showcase the action.

This meditation on movement and space, transportation and transcendence is not to be missed.

What the filmmaker has created is an inspired simulacrum - a jewel-box that contains more of Bausch's kinetic soul than film has any right to.

Crane and steadycam allow Wenders to get so close to the action that in the minimalist Caf? M?ller, one's illusion of being on stage is uncanny.

"Pina"is the best possible tribute to Bausch, and to adventurous image-making.

Sans 3D, Pina becomes a more unified work of undisputed merits, a passionate, fitting tribute from one of Europe's preeminent filmmakers and documentarians.

Pina is as rich in imagery and emotion as any film released this year and in some cases moreso.

This seems like a ripping good idea. In practice, "Pina" turns out to have a few problems.

Suggests thrilling new possibilities for the marriage of movies and dance.

Wenders, who so wanted to see the world through Pina's eyes, has done something even better. He's allowed posterity to see her world, and in a way as breathtaking as the work itself.

Even for someone who would rather count sheep than attend a ballet, these scenes are nothing short of astonishing, beautifully presenting dance's ability to depict words.

A milestone in dance and 3D filmmaking.

You won't hear the names Merce Cunningham, Martha Graham, Paul Taylor or Bob Fosse breathed herein.

An exhilarating experience, both in its celebration of Bausch's groundbreaking work and in the thrilling way that Wenders captures it on camera.

It's not an overview of Bausch's career or a statement on her art, but a celebration of her work and the dancers who bring it to life.

This is a stunning film, a glorious homage to modern dance and one of its premier authors and the best justification of 3D technology to date.

With a breakout use of 3D for artistic rather than solely commercial blockbuster purposes, German director Wim Wenders gives extraordinary life to the work of choreographer Pina Bausch.

Exposure to common environmental bacteria may be source of some allergic inflammation

ScienceDaily (Jan. 31, 2012) ? New research published in the Journal of Leukocyte Biology suggests that certain strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa cause white blood cells to produce high levels of histamine, which worsens the severity of inflammation and infection.

Could some cases of asthma actually be caused by an allergic reaction to a common environmental bacteria? New research findings published in the Journal of Leukocyte Biology (https://www.jleukbio.org) suggests that this idea may not be as far-fetched as it seems. In a research report appearing in the February 2012 print issue, researchers show a link between common environmental bacteria and airway inflammation. Specifically, their research suggests that some strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa cause white blood cells to produce very high levels of histamine, which in turn leads to inflammation, a hallmark symptom of asthma.

"We hope that these findings in mice will encourage human-focused research regarding bacterial stimulation of histamine production by white blood cells, like neutrophils, that are not traditionally associated with allergic inflammation," said George Caughey, M.D., a researcher involved in the work from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and University of California in San Francisco. "Such research could improve our understanding of inflammation in bacterial infections, and help us to craft therapies for relief of inflammation and its consequences for short and long-term health."

To make this discovery, scientists studied the effect of two strains of pseudomonas bacteria on isolated mouse white blood cells tasked with killing bacteria, called neutrophils. Results showed that one strain killed the neutrophils, but the second strain produced substances that caused the neutrophils to increase their production of histamine significantly. To see if their discovery was applicable outside of the test tube, the histamine-stimulating strain was then used to infect mice to produce bronchitis and pneumonia. These mice experienced a significant increase of histamine in their airways and lungs. Additional work showed that the bacteria persuade neutrophils to produce histamine by causing them to make much more of the key enzyme in histamine synthesis (histidine decarboxylase) than neutrophils would otherwise do in the unstimulated state.

"Despite advances in diagnosing and treating the symptoms of asthma and allergy, our understanding of the underlying initiating events remains elusive," said John Wherry, Ph.D., Deputy Editor of the Journal of Leukocyte Biology. "This report helps shed light on how an 'everyday organism' might trigger asthma and allergy from an immune cell type not normally thought to be involved in allergic disease."

Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger & Steve Jones Out At X-Factor

Whoa, some major shakeups going on over at FOX’s X-Factor. We first heard this evening that judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones would not be returning for a second season of X-Factor, and yet another one bites the dust – none other than Paula Abdul. According to “The Hollywood Reporter”, she reportedly was told tonight that her services were no longer needed in Season 2 either. Looks like Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid are the only two remaining. Err, hopefully L.A. doesn’t get the boot too! Let’s be honest here. I’m not surprised by this shake up, are you? Simon Cowell, who created the show, apparently felt the need to do an overhaul, and I couldn’t agree more with his decision to relieve Jones of his duties as the host. He did nothing for the show, and I was thoroughly unimpressed. I wanted to give him a chance, but as the weeks went on, meh, he seemed to get worse. He looked awkward on stage and Ryan Seacrest he is NOT. There are some conflicting reports regarding what happened with Nicole. Some suggest that she wanted out of the judging gig so that she could concentrate on her music, [...]

Asian stocks rise as investors watch Europe (AP)

BEIJING ? Asian stocks rose Tuesday as traders watched for a possible deal to cut Greece's debts and Japanese factory output rebounded.

Benchmark oil rose above $99 per barrel while the dollar fell against the euro and the yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 rose 0.1 percent to 8,806.06 after data showed December industrial activity rose 4 percent over the previous month. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.7 percent to 20,304.48 and Seoul's Kospi was up 0.1 percent at 1,942.82.

Traders watched Europe, a major export market, following reports Greece and its creditors were close to a deal to cut its debts. Also Monday, European leaders agreed on a new treaty meant to stop overspending and put an end to the region's crippling debt woes.

"Everyone is watching the European summit and how the Greek debt crisis comes out," said Jackson Wong at Tanrich Securities in Hong Kong. "The general atmosphere is to play a wait-and-see game."

China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.2 percent at 2,289.42 ahead of Wednesday's release of a key manufacturing index. Investors are hoping for a loosening of credit curbs or other measures to boost growth if it shows activity is slowing amid lackluster global demand for Chinese goods.

Benchmarks in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and India rose while Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand fell. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.2 percent to 4,266.10.

European markets tumbled Monday on concerns Greece's financial problems might not be solved even if creditors agree to cancel part of its debt.

Under a tentative agreement, investors holding 206 billion euros ($272 billion) in Greek bonds would exchange them for bonds with half the face value. The replacement bonds would have a longer maturity and pay a lower interest rate. When the bonds mature, Greece would have to pay its bondholders only 103 billion euros.

France's CAC-40 shed 1.6 percent while Britain's FTSE 100 and Germany's DAX both lost 1 percent.

Wall Street fell in early trading but Asian investors were encouraged after the Dow Jones industrial average recovered most of its losses to close down just 0.1 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500 lost 0.8 percent.

Borrowing costs for European countries with the heaviest debt burdens shot higher. The two-year interest rate for Portugal's government debt jumped to 21 percent after trading around 14 percent last week.

Portugal may become the next country "where default is a real possibility," said Martin Hennecke of Tyche Group in Hong Kong.

"The euro zone crisis is far from being fixed at all. Italy and Spain are effectively bankrupt as well," Hennecke said. "For Asia, that means there is huge uncertainty in terms of export markets."

The treaty agreed to Monday by all European Union governments except Britain and the Czech Republic includes strict debt brakes and is aimed at making it harder for violators to escape sanctions. The 17 countries in the eurozone hope the tighter rules will restore confidence in their joint currency.

The agreement comes as richer countries such as Germany are losing patience with giving Athens loans, saying the Greek government is not carrying out reforms and spending cuts fast enough. A German official proposed having an EU monitor oversee Greek spending but that idea was quickly rejected at Monday's meeting in Brussels.

Benchmark oil for March delivery gained 37 cents to $99.39 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell 78 cents to end at $98.78 per barrel on the Nymex on Monday.

In currencies, the euro rose to $1.3191 from $1.3114 late Monday in New York. The dollar fell to 76.17 yen from 76.25 yen.
